Directions & Transportation:
Skip the rental car. My home is 12 miles from Logan Airport, 4 miles from Harvard Square, Cambridge, 8 miles from the Longwood medical area in Boston, and 4 miles from the Waltham medical area.
On mass transit (MBTA), take the Red Line to Harvard Square, then catch the #73 Waverly Square bus to Belmont. I'm an 7-minute walk from the last stop. There are other transit options. Investigate the possibilities on the MBTA public transit site.
